"It was such a pleasure to work with Heather. She is actually a friend of mine, but in no way have we ever dealt professionally in the past. In fact, this was the first time I got to see her perform at her work. It was actually a little weird because I got to see a little bit of a different side of her; she was so professional, knowledgable, thorough. I am actually very proud of her seeing how she works and how successful she has become at her job. So to explain how this all came about, my girlfriend and I were looking to find a bigger apartment sometime late 2013. We were looking to find a place by Jan 2014. Because it has been some time since I dealt with a broker, I reached out to Heather for some advice. Since she was a friend, I trusted her. However, I will be honest, I was a little reluctant to get involved with her at a business level because.. I don't know, when it comes to work/money and friends, I would rather not take a chance, to avoid any arguments or falling out. But, after a few discussions I realized that Heather really knew what she was doing, gave great advice, was brutally honest (which I really appreciated), and so I decided to go with her. Right off the bat, and something I clearly noticed, was that Heather really took the time to -understand- what my girlfriend and I were looking for. The brokers I have worked with in the past, some typically kind of just show you apartments hoping you'd bite, or even in a way try to convince you to take the deal. In some very few unfortunate cases, I was even talked down to by them - "you're making a mistake", "you don't know what you're doing this is a great deal" - stuff like that. But not Heather. She took the time to listen to what we wanted, explained how certain things she could do and how other things might have been a reach. Great communication. Soon after she was showing us apartments, and although some were better than others, they were all inline with what my girlfriend and I were expecting. I have to admit that out of the how ever many apartments we looked at, my girlfriend and I ended up choosing the first apartment that we were shown. It was honestly a home run. Everything else we were shown were just comparisons to that. I'm not sure if Heather secretly planned it that way, but it was great. Now that was just part one. There was all the paperwork and application process afterwards. (This apartment is a condo that we are renting.) It was really a lot. A lot of signing, a lot of making sure we had every statements, etc. Heather was very organized and neat. She made sure we had everything, and we did. Although I was a little nervous at times on whether or not we would be approved, I would have to say overall it was a smooth process. Just a quick note about responsiveness; if you notice I gave her 4 stars. Heather is a great communicator, and she will definitely, definitely get back to you - especially with a lot of information. But, that being stated, she is also a very busy lady; she has a lot of clients. So, maybe you might not get an email or text back to you in 15 minutes (which I think would be unreasonable); but, you will hear from her by the end of the day (pretty much at worst). If anything, I would think that 5 stars in this category is a little unrealistic; and I would be a little wary if a broker had nothing to do but get back to you immediately.
