The Golden Globe nominations were announced yesterday, the first of the awards shows scheduled this year. However for almost a year, movie theaters have been closed and the hype and word of mouth of films that people would normally talk about is completely absent. Most people feel particularly distanced from the announced nominees, as I do even being in the film industry. Streaming networks, instead of big budget movie studios, will be the major winners of this year which is not a bad thing at all. However I do miss going to theaters, eating buttery artery stopping popcorn and drinking a larger than life sized diet coke. But I don't miss the high priced tickets and crowded parking lots. At least we have plenty of time to catch up on the nominated films and tv shows via streaming, even if we have no idea what they are about...!
