Houston Cut Its Homeless Population by Nearly 2/3.

Getting people their own individual apartments - Over the past dozen years, Houston has driven down its homeless population by 64 percent, including a 17 percent reduction last year. Its success is built on a system that coordinates public policy with 100 different nonprofits. But a major source of federal money is running dry and experts are nervous about what a mayoral handover might mean.

The "Wrecked" Lives of Forgotten Long Covid Sufferers

Close to two million people face a daily battle with debilitating symptoms of long Covid – the lasting symptoms of the virus that remain after the infection is gone with some now housebound, unable to walk and even partially blind. Through my huge team of Drs, physical therapists and multiple FB pages, I know these people.

My Two November Marathons + One in June

Because of multiple health issues 2018 through 2022, heading into 2023 I had not competed in a marathon for 5 years. At the start of 2023 I felt like I was finally ready to train and committed to running, not 1 full marathon but 3! 

Truth be told, these were my 3 slowest marathon finish times ever but I am quite satisfied with my achievement. I have loftier goals for 2024 so stay tuned! Pictured in reverse order: Philly (11/19), NYC (11/5) and Lake Placid (6/11).

10,000 Meditators are Assembling to Create World Peace

10,000 people who practice Transcendental Meditation will be assembling in India in the New Year to create world peace. Scientific research provides evidence that an assembly of this size will have a far-reaching influence on world events during the time of the assembly. 

If this assembly produces results similar to 50 previous demonstrations documented in more than 20 peer reviewed studies, this influence will reduce violence and increase progress towards peaceful resolutions of ethnic, national and international conflicts. BASQUIAT X WARHOL

Basquiat and Warhol occupied two distinct spaces in New York’s 1980s art scene. After their formal introduction in 1982 at Warhol’s Factory, the two would meet regularly, working on multiple monumental canvases at once, resulting in over 160 collaborative works created in the short period of from late 1983 to 1985.

The Costume Institute's fall 2023 exhibition will explore the creativity and artistic legacy of women fashion designers from The Met’s permanent collection, tracing a lineage of makers from the turn of the twentieth century to the present day. Women Dressing Women will feature the work of over 70 womenswear designers, spanning ca. 1910 to today.
