Mosse Le Rouchefer Chenin Blanc 2021

Insider Tip: This wine is produced within the Anjou appellation but is intentionally declassified as VDF. Le Rouchefer is a single vineyard bottling from a 1.66 hectare parcel of the same name, planted in 1976. Short maceration on skins. Barrel-fermented & aged.

An ample and generous Chenin, balanced by a vibrant minerality. Notes of stone fruits, pineapple and honey lead into a clean, slightly saline finish.

In celebration of Women's History Month, we highlight Sheba Jazz Lounge, a remarkable woman-owned establishment in San Francisco's Fillmore District. Founded in 2006 by sisters Netsanet Alemayehu and Hawanatu Bangura, Sheba Jazz Lounge stands as the last jazz venue in the area, offering live jazz five nights a week with no cover charge. The lounge is renowned for its authentic Ethiopian cuisine, featuring dishes like the vegetarian sampler platter and traditional meat offerings such as doro wat and tibs wat, prepared by chef Alemtu Gimariam and sous chef Trhas Yehdego. The Alemayehu sisters bring their heritage to the forefront, inspired by their upbringing in Harar, Ethiopia, and their mother's recipes. Decorated with nods to Ethiopian culture, Sheba Jazz Lounge offers a unique and immersive experience for visitors.

Maya Angelou – San Francisco’s First Black Female Streetcar Conductor

Before becoming a world-renowned poet and activist, Maya Angelou made history right in San Francisco. At just 16 years old in the 1940s, she became the city’s first Black female streetcar conductor. She was determined to break barriers, even at a young age, and her perseverance paid off.

Angelou later wrote about this experience in her autobiography I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, emphasizing how this early job helped shape her confidence and sense of purpose. Her time in San Francisco was just the beginning of a legendary career as a writer, speaker, and advocate for civil rights.
