The June solstice occurs on Sunday, June 20, marking the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere... and the longest day of the year!
The June solstice occurs when Earth arrives at the point in its orbit where the North Pole is at its maximum tilt (about 23.5 degrees) toward the Sun, resulting in the longest day and shortest night of the calendar year. Longest “day” meaning the longest period of sunlight. Everyone... summer is here... really! And we can travel... really! And the Governor is giving away dream vacations and jackpots as incentives for vaccinations... REALLY!
My children and I officially survived a full year of Zoom school...yes even with a few "D"'s in Physical Education, we survived. If only we had a gigantic tub of Mederma to slather over us, helping us to fade the internal scarring we have all felt.
But happily, just saying the word "Summer" generates images of sun filled days drinking chilled bubbly beverages, eating picnic basket goodies, leisurely hanging with friends while watching the sun set, sand in between my toes.

11468 Dona Cecilia Dr Studio City, CA 91604 3 bd | 3 ba | 3886 sqft | 12,541 sqft lot
$3,275,000 Raphael S. Soriano, F.A.I.A. The Albert Grossman House, 1964. If there ever was an ideal expression of the catchall "design for better living," Raphael Soriano accomplished it here. He was so successful in fact that Grossman named the house "El Paradiso," not so much because the glass house dissolves into its tropical garden setting, but rather on account of its ease of maintenance. It is constructed with an aluminum frame, and anodized exterior components that "never need painting." Specifically designed as a true live/work environment, living spaces open to atriums, or the outdoors, while the entire second floor is an in-home office. Property is City of Los Angeles Cultural Historic Monument #638.

Just Sold! 3 bed | 2 bat | 1621 sqft | 9600 sqft lot Represented the Seller
This sweet story is a happy ending for my sellers and the new buyers… This house was built in 1960 by hand, by the sellers parents, a labor of love and determination. My sellers came to me to help them decide on how to best market the house and honor their parents. The house needed a lot of work, no doubt, but the mid century bones of the house were great, and the spirit of the house was incredibly vibrant. The house had such an interesting history, so we decided to tell the story of the home through cherished and faded pictures of the house being built and articles written about their father, showing the eclectic life their parents lived. This story eventually would sell the house. The buyers were one of 11 offers. They were not chosen, and they were heartbroken… they had even started drawing up plans for the renovation. From then on, they compared every other house they saw to Maricopa. Due to the daunting work the house needed, it fell out of escrow, and when I contacted their agent, they were elated. They were not afraid of the work needed to restore it, the house’s spirit had chosen them. Yesterday I handed them the keys to their home, and we toasted to Carlton and Ingrid while watching the sunset.

Demand for Houses With Two Kitchens Spikes in L.A. Amid Pandemic
Real estate listings as a matter of course spotlight how many bedrooms and baths a home has. But there may come a day in Los Angeles’ high-end residential market where the number of kitchens is prominently listed as well.
“On more than 50 percent of our projects, our clients are demanding two kitchens,” says Mauricio Oberfeld of high-end SoCal builder Dugally Oberfeld of a trend that has taken off in recent years and has only accelerated during the pandemic: “There’s been a very strong push for two kitchens.” 14801 Pampas Ricas Blvd. Listed by David Kelmenson of Compass
