If you’ve been driving down Colfax near Civic Center Park you may have noticed a strange looking building. That would probably be the Populus Hotel, the United States’ first carbon-positive hotel. The architecture is intended to look like a grove of aspens, and with a focus on natural design elements, renewable energy, and thousands of planted trees it aims to bring a little bit of nature back into the city.
