February 26, 2021

February is almost at an end, March is upon us and the realization of almost one year of Covid has hit me hard.  If you are like me, working from home mostly, with children who are distant learning, personal and mental space is truly lacking.  My children have been struggling with more challenging schoolwork, and almost non existent social interaction.  Seeking to understand our children and ourselves seems to be what is most needed... for our spirit and our mindset.  Recently my friend, Ayesha Madni, an Educational Psychologist who manages a research program in the Viterbi School of Engineering at USC, co-founded an experiential mentorship program for children... almost like a mini Shark Tank experience!  Her program, called Equ-Tec, is helping children/teens to figure out what inspires them and makes them passionate, and what will eventually make them successful at whatever they may do.  Truly our children need some self belief to feel secure in their environment, and be proud of their accomplishments during these times.
