Recently a friend who I hadn't talked to for awhile told me that she was moving out of Los Angeles. She had decided that better opportunities were in Austin, TX... a better job, a better chance of affording a home, and a better school system for her son... it was essentially a better future. I get it, Los Angeles is vast, and the connection most of us have to this city was partially severed during the pandemic. We weren't allowed to enjoy what we had taken for granted... outings to restaurants amid a social atmosphere, movie nights and then after hour drinks at a local bar, visits to downtown museums and art exhibits whenever we felt the urge, spur of the moment social gatherings to keep us connected ... even going to get frozen yogurt or watching the sunset from a local hangout was made unattainable. And, yes, the crazy housing market is very frustrating to buyers, but the hope is that more inventory will be coming in order to balance the disparity. We need a little less drama in this department...
Our City of Angels has been hurting, so now that we are fully open, let's help by buying local... visit your favorite restaurant, dive bar (see "Local LA" below for some suggestions), yogurt shop, clothing shop, get out there and see a museum exhibit or go Disco Rollerskating... even go to the OC Fair and eat fried food... the point is enjoy the fact that our beautiful city is opening again (safely).

Luxury Home Sales Soar, Even Helping Houses That Languished on the Market for Months Americans looking to buy a home have struggled with bidding wars and a limited number of houses for sale. But one area of the cutthroat real estate landscape is improving. It's the luxury segment, where listings are up and homes are selling at a rapid clip. The demand is so great that even "white elephants" – high-end homes that sat on the market for months before the pandemic began – are selling quickly as their owners willingly splurge on remodeling projects to spruce them up.
