Thanksgiving Edition

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. When we first immigrated to the U.S. from Iran in 1979, my parents immersed our family in American holiday traditions. Adapting to Thanksgiving was seamless given how Iranian culture is so centered around food and family gatherings. We eat turkey, but pepper in some saffron, an herb stew, and of course, crispy rice (tahdeeg).

This year we're hosting Thanksgiving dinner for twenty family and friends. I don't really cook, so please send thoughts and prayers to our guests. Thankfully, my brother in law is a former ER doctor. 

Thanksgiving can also be a difficult holiday for those who have lost a loved one, are alone, or may be going through a difficult time. Please be sure to check in with them and may this holiday land gently for those struggling.

As we wind down and connect with loved for the holiday week, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your friendship and support. I'm blessed to have a wonderful group of friends, colleagues and clients.

Thanksgiving Recipes for the Semi-Chef

Parker House Rolls

I may attempt to make these as I love the famous Parker House House rolls at Kinship restaurant in D.C.  Top with butter and sea salt or gravy.

French 75

The French 75 is a classic and one of my favorite cocktails to serve guests. (I may not be a great cook, but I'm a fantastic bartender). Top with extra champagne if you're not enjoying Thanksgiving company.

Crispy Parmesan Crusted Brussels Sprouts

This looks pretty easy to cook and a vegetable that may appeal to my kids.

Salted Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Because not everybody likes pumpkin pie. Pair with vanilla bean ice cream.
