When it comes to predicting real estate prices 7 of the most respected sources are: Mortgage Bankers Association National Association of Realtors The Home Price Expectation Survey These 7 entities are very different in their missions and each employs top financial experts and housing market analysts. Together, they keep a pulse on the overall health of the US consumer and the direction of investment and fiscal policy, which tends to influence interest rates. It is BIG NEWS that these influential voices recently adjusted their combined forecast for real estate prices to increase by 3.27% in 2024. This is up from a predicted 1.64% in November 2023. That's a 50% increase in 4 months - a significant rise! The 3 primary reasons for these readjustments are a continued lack of homes to buy including new housing starts, declining interest rates and a lower risk of recession in the US. Why is this residential real estate information such BIG NEWS? Because real estate is a window into the overall health of the greater US economy.
