SPRING FEVER
at R COLLECTIVE!
Welcome to April, where Spring finally kicks in and so do our seasonal allergies. For parents, April can be an especially challenging time with Spring Break. Though we always look forward to time with our kids, taking a week off work to travel with our six year-old twins at the busy start of real estate spring season is always a challenge. Seeing your children experience new adventures and the memories that we’re able to build together as a family makes up for the time missed at the office. As a parent, you realize that your children will never be this age or this young again.

Along with Spring Break, we just celebrated my birthday and Nowruz, the Persian New Year. Nowruz, which always falls on the exact date of the Spring Equinox, embodies themes of renewal, rebirth and friendship. It’s one of our favorite holidays as we have such fond memories of mothers hosting wonderful Nowruz parties when we were younger. Along with celebrating, it’s a holiday that encourages you to forget past problems and start fresh.
Many of you may be worried about the right time to move, thinking whether interest rates will ever decline or if it’s the right time in your life to make a change. Our clients who dialed into change and, in particular, the real estate market are thrilled with their decision. We listed one couple’s house who had plans to leave the DMV to pursue their dream of living in California. We listed another for an empty nester who wanted to downsize from their single family home to move into a condo in the city, and we helped another client get the winning offer above nine others, where they have now settled in to a stunning home and sparked new friendships with their new neighbors. Embracing change can be hard, but there is always upside on the other side of it.

One final change is we finally kicked off R Collective, the Sara and Arash team, last month where we hosted a launch party at Bethesda Country Club for our clients, friends, and family at Bethesda. It was humbling seeing so many come to support our new real estate endeavor. We jumped all-in to making a change in 2024 and hope you will take the leap with us as you think about your real estate needs in the year ahead.

Have a wonderful April and thanks again for reading along.

Warmly,

Sara & Arash

R Collective Launch Party
Thank you to our clients, friends, colleagues and family who joined us at Bethesda Country Club at our official R Collective launch party. It was surreal and humbling to see so many people that are important to us gather in a space in support of our new partnership. During my speech, I joked by welcoming everybody to our wedding.

Partnering together in business to create R Collective is a big career step for us both. As a couple, we have celebrated big milestones in our lives together--from me agreeing to give Arash my number on the night we met, to our engagement, wedding in Napa, and now as parents of twins. We recognize the significance of important moments in your life, many of which are also celebrated in your home.

As a couple, we understand the emotional journey of finding a home or parting with one. With this in mind, our commitment goes beyond being your real estate advisors; it extends to being your allies and confidants throughout the process. It's our hope that you will allow us the privilege to work with you or a referral when thinking about real estate.

CURATED JUST FOR YOU!
Where We're Eating
Restauranteur Stephen Starr, who had made it his mission to put DC dining on the world map, has another hit on his hands with Pastis. The beloved New York restaurant recently opened an outpost in Union Market, to great fanfare.

DC's appetite for French cuisine seems to show no signs of abating with restaurants like Le Diplomate, L'Avante-Garde, Le Clou and now Pastis. As a student of French, I say Bienveue à D.C.!
What We're Watching
The year is 1985 and Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, Bill Joel, Cyndi Lauper, and Lionel Richie were at the apex of their careers. They ruled radio and the American Music Awards (AMA). On the same evening following 1985's AMA''s, Michael, Lionel and producer Quincy Jones had wrangled some the world's biggest singers to a small LA studio to record "We Are The World", an iconic song to draw attention and raise money for African hunger. This documentary is a beautiful time capsule that chronicles what indeed, the Greatest Night in Pop.
Non-Profit We're Supporting
According to the United Nations, a woman dies every two minutes due to pregnancy or childbirth complications. In 2003, our friend, Christy Turlington Burns, suffered a life threatening complication while delivering her daughter, and soon learned that thousands of women were dying because they didn’t have access to maternity care. Her birthing experience led her to form a non-profit, Every Mother Counts, that’s dedicated to improving access to maternity care around the world. We had a very scary moment when I was delivering our twins and thankfully had a wonderful medical team to step in. This experience just reinforced our commitment to making maternity care safer. On April 28, Arash is running the Big Sur 11-Miler to raise money and awareness for EMC. If you would like to support him or EMC, please visit here. We greatly appreciate it!
Sara's Favorite Find
I've never been a fan of protein powders. They always seem to alter the natural flavor of fruits and vegetables, and make smoothies unpleasantly chalky. But then I discovered Be Well protein powders. Their unflavored version is a game-changer – no matter how much I add, it never gets chalky. Sometimes, I even sneak some into the kids' smoothies and baked goods! And for those who love a bit of indulgence, Arash can't get enough of the chocolate flavor, which is conveniently available on Amazon!
