Hello October!

Welcome to our October 2024 South Lake Tahoe real estate newsletter! October is one of my favorite times of the year in Tahoe! The crowds thin out, the leaves start to change color, the Kokanee salmon are spawning, fireplaces begin to roar and there are Oktoberfest's galore!


For all you buyers out there, don’t get spooked! This is a great month to find your ideal home. Sellers are putting their best foot forward, staging their properties to look extra inviting. Whether you’re after a rustic cabin or a lakefront estate, October has got you covered.


The Federal Reserve cut the fed funds rate, marking the first cut in over four years and bringing the 30- year loan rate to just above 6%. This means that the average payment on a $1m home dropped by $1010 per month since last year!


So, throw on your favorite flannel, grab a pumpkin spice latte, and let’s find the perfect place for you to call home this fall!

Work hard, play hard. My family and I just returned from a wonderful trip to Ireland. Among our adventures we visited Skellig Island, a World Unesco Heritage site, contemplated the perfect pint of Guiness, rode bikes in the rain, saw several castles, and met many lovely people. What a beautiful country.

october 4th - 6th

Set amidst the natural beauty of South Lake Tahoe, a captivating Multi-day Documentary Film Festival comes to life. We provide a welcoming space for filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences to connect through screenings, discussions, workshops, and vibrant parties.

october 5th & 6th

An ode to the Munich festival and a favorite for visitors and locals, the festival runs 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. daily. Lederhosen are optional but encouraged. Entrance and parking are free. Well known for its family-friendly activities, beer and wine garden, and Oktoberfest-inspired menu options.

The Oktoberfest festivities will reach their zenith at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, with the Prost to the Party Oktoberfest celebration. This closing event will be highlighted by live music and the 12th annual $1,000 Miss Oktoberfest pageant. 

Contestants will compete in categories such as wardrobe, interview, and talent, with the reigning Miss Oktoberfest serving as an ambassador at various Himmel Haus events throughout the year the following year.

october 5th | 1:00 pm

We had over 400 people last year with at least 150 on boards and kayaks. Let’s make this year bigger and better! Bring your own board or more if you’d like to share. Please wear a witch costume even if it’s basic!

October 18th - 20th

The Lake Tahoe Marathon is an annual race that takes place in the scenic surroundings of Lake Tahoe, offering breathtaking views of the lake and mountains.It not only attracts runners but also offers a great experience for spectators, who can watch and cheer for participants from designated spots along the scenic roads that follow the lake.

First inaugural Meyers Mountain Fall Festival at Tahoe Paradise Park. It is sure to be an unforgettable weekend filled with fun, food, and all the Fall festivities. Enjoy live music performances by Mescalito on Saturday and Broken Compass Bluegrass on Sunday, both from 2pm to 5pm.
