NEW YORK, NY, MARCH 2, 2022 — Compass, Inc., a leading technology-enabled residential real estate brokerage, today announced its expansion into Chapel Hill, deepening its investment in North Carolina and the booming Greater Triangle real estate market.

Compass is honored to welcome a premier group of top local teams and agents within the Chapel Hill market, totaling over $120 million in sales volume for 2021 [^1]. These teams and agents include:

  • The Christine Khoury Team, a top-producing 5-person team from Coldwell Banker Howard Perry Walston.

  • The Trish Lowe Group, a newly formed team founded by top producing agent Trish Sweeney-Lowe from Coldwell Banker Howard Perry Walston.

  • Terra Nova, a 19-person team led by principal agents Tom Wiltberger, Kara Pittman, and Mariana Fiorentino, previously a boutique brokerage in the area.

  • Carolina Collection, an established team founded by long-time Chapel Hill agents Erin Daniel and Heather Schumm, previously a boutique brokerage in the area.

“Chapel Hill is an exciting next step for our continued growth in North Carolina to serve both our agents and their clients. We are thrilled to welcome such a dynamic group of top agents to launch this market,” said Claire Sillner, Director of Operations for North Carolina. “Even more impressive than these agents’ market-leading track records is their dedication to guiding clients through the real estate process with empathy and integrity.”

Brett Bushnell will lead the market as Broker in Charge, bringing with him 18 years of experience in the real estate and mortgage industries. Most recently, Brett oversaw his own Chapel Hill-based brokerage, Tri Local Realty, where he was also a top producer. Additionally, Brett has held numerous leadership positions within both local and statewide realtor associations, including President of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors (RRAR) in 2021, and President of the Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors (now known as OCHAR) in 2014.

“Now, more than ever, who you work with matters. Compass is at the forefront of the real estate industry — in both their technology and their support for agents,” said Brett. “I couldn’t be more excited to join these high-caliber agents in their mission to help everyone find their place in the world.”

The Chapel Hill launch marks the first expansion for Compass in the Triangle in 2022, since opening last spring in Raleigh, Cary, and Durham. Compass now has over 200 agents across the region, with plans for continued office additions in the near future.

Compass is home to over 26,000 agents in 69 markets covering nearly half of the United States population. In 2021 Compass agents sold over a quarter of a trillion dollars in real estate, closing approximately 225,000 transactions which resulted in $6.4 billion in 2021 revenue for the company.
