We needed to find a piece of land that offered quiet get-a-ways and freedom to stretch out; we found what we we needed in Thornton. The land, it turns out, offered more to us then we first believed. What was to be a weekend get-a-way, hunting and camping place, turned into a homestead and a place of dreams. A house was placed, water added, septic and a 60x40 barn Piece by piece came together and in 2012 we turned our dream into full-time residence. We loved our home and always wanted to raise livestock as both our families had raised cattle, but being interested in cooking, decided to raise dairy goats. After a few years, we were producing milk, cheese and soaps. This offered many years of learning, a small income and lots of love from our goats. Trails for walking and four wheeling were cleared and maintained, later a tank for swimming and kayaking was added. Sitting around a fire ring listening to tree frogs and spectacular sun sets-you just can’t find this everywhere. Our neighbors, though distant, are there to help with a quick call.
