Historian william Pierson observed that a temple-form building was set in isolation so that it "stood apart from its environment as an object of large and simple beauty, poised, rhythmic, and absolute." More unique period details grace the main two-story mansion. There are four decorative fireplaces, back terraces on both floors and large basement with windows.
