The now 1,811 square-foot (total estimated) home was slightly expanded to accommodate a larger kitchen with beautiful custom Poggenpohl cabinetry and entranceway with custom coat and shoe storage area. The detailed renovation includes all new windows (fitted into restored Goodman-style window frames), new flooring, custom millwork, molding, trim, new doors, and solid ash cabinetry in the fully renovated bathrooms. A custom mud/storage area was created in the reconfigured entrance. The exterior was enhanced with new roof, all new siding, new patio areas (one with wood-burning fireplace), and improved drainage and landscaping. Other improvements include new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

The main level features the open kitchen-dining-living space, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Goodman’s signature large fireplace anchors one end of the open living space while the new kitchen anchors the other. In addition to the Poggenpohl cabinets, the kitchen features quartz-topped countertop with L-shaped bar for entertaining and custom ash shelves.

While keeping the original footprint intact, the lower level was completely rethought, creating two legal bedrooms and the second full bathroom and one dedicated utility, laundry room and storage area.
Hammond Wood is located just north of Kensington and just over a mile from the Wheaton Metro (Red Line). A Ride On bus stop is just steps from the front door.
