He was very positive and supportive of our decision during the offering process, and he got our offer accepted in two days! "Will helped us find our perfect home in the Bay Area, CA. From day one, he has been patient, supportive, super accommodating, informative and thoroughly efficient, listening carefully to what we needed in a home and finding us the perfect one. We truly believe that it wouldn’t have been this smooth sailing had it not been for him being there every step of the way and thinking and coordinating everything two steps ahead. He and his team worked with us to make the home buying process go smoothly and efficiently. We cannot recommend him highly enough. He has truly been an absolute pleasure to work with and we are so grateful for all the hard work he put in helping us in this journey." - R. Rito

About Will
When Will Kangwannawakun immigrated to the US from Thailand, he didn’t know a single person. It was tough, but he was determined to survive and thrive in America... and he succeeded. Today, Will's closing deals and paving his own path on the San Francisco Bay Area real estate scene.

Will initially traveled to San Francisco for a four-month English course. When he ran out of money, he got a job bussing tables at a Thai restaurant to make ends meet. “I actually moved 11 times in San Francisco in 10 years, I did whatever I had to do. I shared a room with five other people, I slept in a closet under the stairs like Harry Potter.” He also slept in a kitchen that had a simple curtain that he could pull closed. “That was my first private room,” he jokes.

Will worked his way up from bussing tables to other jobs within the restaurant, before eventually becoming an event planner – a career that was hit hard during the pandemic. Luckily, Will was already finishing up real estate school when COVID-19 struck the nation. He’s now a licensed agent with unstoppable momentum. He closed nearly 70+ deals since 2021! He also received the California Association of REALTORS® 2022 Rising Star Award!

“It’s just been so amazing,” says Will, who has a degree in social work from a university in Thailand but knew that wasn’t his life’s calling. “It took a lot of soul searching to figure out what I wanted to do, but I eventually got there. Real estate is what I love.”

PAYING IT FORWARD
On any given day, you can typically find Will spending time with his husband David and cats Mojo, Magus, Miyajima (MiJi) & Major. He also loves painting and nurturing his many indoor plants. But when he’s not home, you might find Will on an adventure of some sort – whether it’s driving two hours just to have lunch at a great new spot, or venturing further afield to an exotic destination. “My husband and I love going to Japan. We would go there before visiting my family in Thailand. And then we usually visit another Asian country during the same trip.”

Will says the Egyptian pyramids and Europe are next on his travel bucket list. But no matter how much time Will spends away from Thailand, his roots in his home country will always run deep. “Family is very important to me, I want to be able to give back to my brothers and sister in Thailand.”

He also hopes to provide support and assistance to LGBTQ+ youth back home. “I would love to be able to support them, to make things easier for them, because the life I have now was not possible back home.”

Will also makes himself available to other real estate agents who are just starting out in the business.
“I always try to be there to help, because I know it’s difficult when you’re first starting out. I always tell them not to give up, even when things seem hard.”

YOU HAVE TO CARE
There are a few attributes that every real estate agent should have, according to Will, who says the first rule of thumb is to simply care about your clients. “You have to care. People ask me what kind of real estate I specialize in, and I tell them I only specialize in people. I help people.”

Will says that acting as an advocate for his clients and sharing as much knowledge as possible is also vital – and extremely appreciated when dealing with first-time homebuyers. “So many people think they aren’t able to buy a home, because they don’t have enough money or their credit score isn’t good enough. I do everything I can to help them achieve their goals, and they’re so surprised and happy when they finally get those keys handed over to them.”

That’s exactly the way it should be, according to Will, who believes kindness is the answer to just about everything in life. “We just need more love and less hate in the world. That’s all.”
