About Troy
Troy keeps his promises. He learned the importance of doing what he says, as someone who was self-employed – and self-driven – in the dynamic and unpredictable fashion industry for more than 15 years. And he knows keeping his commitments and being dependable are the keys to successful relationships in his career, as well as life in general.
Born and raised in Marin, Troy grew up in the world of customer service and real estate. Although his parents owned and operated a successful restaurant in the City, his father also saw the value of buying homes and rental properties as a means of financial investment. Troy’s down-to-earth work ethic came from doing every job in that restaurant at a young age, from dishwashing and sweeping to reservations and cashier. It’s also where he learned to just roll up his sleeves and get the job done – whatever it took.
Troy started off small, buying his first home in San Francisco with help from two investment partners. But with his family background in rental properties and, equally important, renovation – Troy discovered he was able to bring together two driving forces in his life: finding the right deal and improving on it.
Since that first home in the 1990s, Troy has continued to buy, renovate and sell his primary residences in San Francisco, Sonoma and Main, taking advantage of the tax exclusion every two years for a profit. Although he spent an early part of his career in the magazine business and at start-ups, Troy returned to his true calling of real estate and obtained his license in 2003, living and working in Sonoma. As the mortgage recession came along, Troy gave up his license in 2009 to concentrate solely on flipping investment properties of his own. But his heart had always been in Marin, so a few years ago he bought a fixer-upper in Fairfax and is now thrilled to be back permanently in the local real estate market.
Whatever his clients may need, Troy provides “white-glove service” from listing to buying; renovation consulting to project management; and from architectural design to home staging. With his vast experience in finding the right home for the right buyer, Troy is the ideal real estate professional to help guide his clients through the possibilities of what a property can be.
Troy is proud to be a member of the Compass team, because its values and principles are aligned with his – a passion for excellence, integrity, care and commitment. Whether it’s a country property in Sonoma, a charming home in Marin or loft in San Francisco, Troy’s clients always come first and he gets the job done.
