The Assaad Group has been ingrained in the Dallas and Fort Worth culture and lifestyle for over 50 years. Kim grew up in Irving, TX and attended high school in Irving (Irving HS) and Richardson (Richardson HS) then graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1996 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Mark was raised in southwest Fort Worth since 1971 and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1993 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Our families enjoyed winter afternoons watching the cattle herds at the Stockyards and the wild bull rides at the the Fort Worth Rodeo and Stockshow. On beautiful spring days we were cheering for our favorite professional golfers at the Colonial Invitational and Byron Nelson golf tournaments, or exploring the Arts Festival in Downtown Fort Worth, or visiting the world renowned Kimball Arts Museum in the Fort Worth Arts District. We enjoyed amazing summer nights under the stars watching Shakespeare in the Park along the banks of the Trinity River and dancing a Cotton-Eye Joe at the Texas Rangers games. As fall arrives we would go to the State Fair for corndogs and funnel cake, the dark nights are illuminated by the Friday Night lights of Texas High School football, Saturday afternoon was spent watching the TCU Horn Frogs at Amon Carter or SMU Mustangs at Ford Field, and after church on Sundays we rush home to watch Americas team the Dallas Cowboys.
Since 2002, our family has lived in Grapevine, TX. This small historic rail town is conveniently nestled minutes between downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth on the north end of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The City of Grapevine offers over 1,600 acres of parkland to explore, hike, bike and play along shores of Lake Grapevine. The city hosts multiple festivals each year and is The Christmas Capital of Texas providing over 1,400 Christmas related events in 40 days. Boasting nearly 7,000 hotel rooms with more on the way, Grapevine is a hotel and resort destination that draws people from all over the world. We are a members of the Grapevine Rotary and Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. The Grapevine City council appointed Mark to the Parks and Recreation Advisor Committee in 2017 then in 2022 he was appointed to the City of Grapevine Planning and Zoning Commission. Both of our children graduated from Grapevine High School and currently attend TCU and Texas A&M University.
On the weekends we enjoy our time at our second home lake house in Granbury, TX. We love waking up at sunrise to watch the rays of sun gleaming off the flat water while having our first cup of coffee. Spending the day on the lake wake surfing and entertaining family and friends while Mark practices his BBQ-Smoking skills. Or we head in to town by boat to enjoy a nice meal on the water at Stumpy’s or drive to dinner at Farina’s in historic downtown Granbury overlooking the century old county court house.
