On the celebratory heels of welcoming twins, outdoorsy Anheuser-Busch heir Billy Busch Jr., who oversees the hunting and outdoor gear concern Geist, and his professional surfer wife, Kirra (Seale) Busch, have hoisted their fashionably updated 1960s home in Malibu on the market at $4.45 million. 

Technically, the property was acquired in August of 2020 for not quite $2.7 million by a family trust controlled by Busch Jr.’s father, William K. Busch, aka Billy Busch Sr. Both Junior and Senior Busches starred in the 2020 MTV reality series The Busch Family Brewed. 

The glass jewel box, nestled in the side of the Santa Monica Mountains, has a host of techie features, from a glass elevator to passive solar heating, and amenities that include a 75-foot swimming pool and floor-to-ceiling windows that take in views of the Pacific Ocean and the dramatic mountain peaks of Boney Ridge.

“When it comes to houses $15 million and below, I don’t know anyone who builds homes this well,” said listing agent Sean Matthews of Compass Beverly Hills “One of the best parts of the estate is the junior Olympic pool,” Matthews said. It cost around $700,000 to build, according to Widmann. 

The newly listed $109 million estate located in Santa Barbara Country’s Carpinteria will give you access to 4.2-acres of space, horse trails and your very own private beach. Dubbed Rancho Cariñoso, the estate sits on the famous surf break known as Loon Point. It’s also near Kevin Costner’s Padaro Lane estate, which he purchased in 2006.

“This world-class legacy property is unlike any other beachfront estate on the market today,” Matthews says in a statement. “It is truly an equestrian enthusiast’s dream.”

While the residences’ vast acreage and square footage were initially considered assets, in recent decades many homeowners with smaller families didn’t necessarily need the space or want to maintain such grand holdings. 

But Covid-19 changed some clients’ cravings, says Sean Matthews of Compass Real Estate in Beverly Hills. 

“That level of buyer is now looking strategically for a property that suits those pandemic-generated needs for privacy and safety.” One of his listings, the $109 million Rancho Cariñoso owned by the descendants of an oil tycoon, is zoned to stable horses, something that is hard to come by with a new build.
