Ruth is delighted to join the team of Haya Handel and Gary Barkin, which specializes in residential and multi-unit real estate sales throughout the Los Angeles area. Born and raised in the city, Ruth has been a passionate student of Los Angeles architecture and its diverse neighborhoods since childhood, always exploring the far-flung delights that await an urban explorer. Midcentury modern homes were always a particular favorite, leading her to live in the city’s first post-war historic preservation overlay zone.
Ruth brings an array of unique skills to her real estate career, with over twenty years in public relations, as well as years of journalism and marketing writing. She is currently at work on a book about the 1948 Gregory Ain Tract in Mar Vista. A practiced estate liquidator, Ruth is unparalleled when it comes to assisting with the sale of furnishings and personal effects. With her knowledge of auction houses and estate sale providers, she can ensure that heirlooms are sold in ways that maximize revenue. As a long-time owner of multi-unit rental units in the city, she is savvy about the ongoing issues of rental properties.
Ruth serves as the President of the Los Angeles Residential Community Auxiliary, raising funds for developmentally disabled adults, and is an avid gardener and hiker. She currently lives in Mar Vista with husband Lloyd, college-bound son Jobim, and two extremely loud cats.
