The iconic purple pane neo-georgian style brownstone sold for the first time in 53 years. Originally designed and built in 1879 by the legendary architects, Peabody and Stearns, as a single family home for Roger Wolcott (former Governor of Massachusetts) and redesigned by Boston-born architect J. Harleston Parker in 1917, this distinctive and spectacular home is adorned with many original Gilded Age details: gorgeous marble and hardwood/parquet floors, ornate wood moldings and walls, Italian crafted marble fireplaces, elaborately carved entry doors, a French wrought iron and ormolu balustrade, restored original single pane windows and beautiful lock sets. It was converted into an apartment building in 1944 and is currently comprised of 11,943 SF (gross building) on 6 floors, 8 apartments [1 studio, 6 one beds and 1 two bed], a head house, a roof deck with commanding panoramic views of Boston & Cambridge and 3 single parking spaces
