About Patricia
Patricia Owen NC Broker, REALTOR®, CIPS, SLS

My Roots
My roots are in North Carolina. While I grew up in the state of New York, both my mother’s and father’s families give me my North Carolina roots. I arrived in this corner of North Carolina, this Southern Part of Heaven, for college and then, with both the mountains and the ocean within an easy reach, a plethora of green spaces, music and opportunities in the arts, I stayed and chose to raise my children here. Two of my children are graduates of the Chapel Hill Carrboro School System and my youngest is on her way. I have had a high school senior and kindergartener the same year twice! which may give me the title of "longest family enrollment" in the Chapel Hill Carrboro School System. And with all of their interests and activities added to mine, it has given me a broad sweep of experiences with the communities, neighborhoods, organizations, athletics and culture that make up our area and its surrounding locales.

A Real Estate Experience Tailored to Your Needs
I bring my background and experiences to my real estate business and can serve you better because of them. Specifically, because of my community involvement, my hands-on experience in the school system and on the UNC campus, I am able to offer guidance in the areas of education, tapping into interests and opportunities in finding your roots here. In addition, with a first full career in Information Technology, I am completely at home with the range of technologies that drive current marketing strategies. My studies in Communications is a plus when listening to your housing needs, negotiating offers, and advocating for you. With designations as a Certified International Property Specialist, and Strategic Listing Specialist, I have strong networks to best position and market homes for sellers and to navigate and succeed in a competitive market for buyers.

Development Experience
Working with developers, builders, architects on new projects is a special interest. Advising and marketing longer terms projects has provided irreplaceable experience in construction planning, processes, and marketing.

Community Advocacy
I have long been an advocate for education. From pre-school boards, UNC Childcare Advisory Board, School Improvement Team (McDougle Elementary), 3rd grade Reading Volunteer, active PTA membership, and classroom support. Educational support and advocacy has been a long term

International Experience
I have been lucky to spend time every year in France with my husband and our family caring for properties there. In doing so, I have developed a sharp eye for quality and care of all kinds of homes while working on everything from mixing cement and building walls, to staining, sanding, sealing, painting, plastering and landscaping. When a job is more than we can do ourselves, I know how to find and connect with someone who does. Now with CIPS designation, I have extensive knowledge in global transactions, including: Currency issues, Financing, Visa and tax laws and have always developing resources for buyers and sellers with international interests or backgrounds.

Outside the Office
For fun, I have a deep love of and have been an active member of the Argentine Tango community, including as a beginning teacher. On the weekends you can often find me with my family in the woods, walking, hiking and sometimes riding unicycles, too.

With a breadth of experience, knowledge, and skills, I can tailor your real estate experience, buying or selling, tuned to your specific needs and style.
