"With the onset of the COVID pandemic, managing a rental apartment from outside the city became very complicated. When the tenant moved out of my apartment to get married in May 2020, I contacted Jim Farah at Compass. I wasn’t dealing with a stranger. I had worked with him and Trish Goodwin in the past on two occasions, both very positive. Jim assisted me in many ways, starting with an initial visit to the apartment. With the observations he provided, I was able to decide what work was needed. Jim then accompanied two contractors to the apartment and sent me their estimates for the renovation. When the renovation was completed, he immediately scheduled a photographer and created the listing. Throughout the process, he was meticulous in observing the numerous COVID regulations, establishing a good rapport with the management company as well as the superintendent of the building. When two young women visited the apartment and decided to proceed with the rental lease application, Jim arranged a Zoom encounter for the three of us which proved to be very helpful. He provided ongoing guidance with a particular attention to details which greatly facilitated the process. His experience enabled us to meet the application requirements in a stress-free manner. Shortly after the new tenants moved in, they wrote to me expressing their appreciation of all that Jim had done for them. This has been another very positive experience. Jim Farah is to be highly recommended for his considerate and extremely professional manner in dealing with his clients. " - Cynthia D’Alimonte, Owner

class="textIntent-body" style="font-size: 15px;">"I wanted to write to you to thank you for your efforts and calm patience during the very long and often difficult process to sell my loft in Soho this past month. We’ve had a long relationship through numerous rentals over a twelve period and your advice has always resulted in positive results. There were even times when you advised me to accept offers from new tenants that had made those offers directly to me, not through you. It shows that you are concerned with the long term relationship and best results for your clients rather than a and less than perfect outcomes for the client. As you know I own or have owned twenty or more properties over the years and of course have dealt with hundreds maybe a thousand real estate brokers over the years and you are the only broker I have ever kept in contact with for so long a period or even considered calling to sell my loft. So thank you again and my apologies for not always being as patient to you as you have been with me. Best of luck with all your endeavors." - R.L. (Seller)

"I had the good fortune to be referred to Jim Farah and Trish Goodwin of The Farah Goodwin Team at Compass by my real estate attorney. From the initial phone call with Jim to the follow-up meeting at my home, I was impressed by their professionalism, expertise, and responsiveness. Jim and Trish represented me in the simultaneous sale of my Coop and the purchase of another unit in my building. They provided expert advice on minor updates and staging that would improve the marketability of my home and they even managed the entire staging process while I was traveling. Their initial market analysis was helpful in determining the listing price and they provided comparable listings so I could compare my home to recently closed and listed properties. They kept me apprised of showing and open house feedback in a timely way. This feedback and their guidance enabled me to react to the realities of a changing market. On the purchase side, they worked directly with the seller who had inherited the property and was not represented by an agent. The Compass market analysis was persuasive in the price negotiation and they went beyond the call of duty in dealing with the seller’s attorney and my building’s property management company. I would recommend Jim and Trish without reservation for any real estate needs. They are a joy to work with. " - CT, Seller and Buyer

"The year is going by so quickly, and I wanted to write and thank you from my new home! As you know, finding the right home was an exciting challenge and I am forever indebted for your patience. I think, however, that the best part is having found a new friend. I know that close relationships with clients is a trademark of your profession, and professionalism, but I wonder how many families have called on your office and kindness three times in one year! We had some sort of trifecta: Kiyoshi’s Brooklyn apartment, Lily’s wonderful sale of her home at 26 E. 10th, and then me ! We are all happily settled and very grateful. I send much love and thanks. " - Charline S.

"Dear Jim, Thank You… your professionalism and calm demeanor made this sale seem like a spa treatment. You possess the special gift of tranquility, which I’m certain is contagious and was responsible for a smooth sale. " - Anthony, Seller

"Jim coached me through the steps of buying an apartment, talked me through my anxiety, and was consistently helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant. His knowledge allowed him to translate my sometimes obscure thoughts into the perfect apartment for me! " - Jessica, Buyer

"Jim treated us and the apartment like it was as important as a multi-million dollar loft. We sold our apartment for a record per square foot thanks to Jim’s efforts. I recommend him to everyone I meet looking to sell an apartment. " - William, Seller

"Jim met all our expectations…not only is he the consummate professional, but…he was completely honest, helpful, and supportive right up to the day of the closing. " - Buyer

"I am abundantly grateful and delighted…and quite wistful as well. But—for all that relates to YOU—thank you. Your work, timing, patience, and “business athlete” power are all outstanding! With more thanks than word… " - Seller

"Jim found us a full-asking-price offer within two weeks of our listing with him. He was with us during each step of the process to get the buyer approved in our small co-op building. We would definitely use him again if we were looking for another property in New York." - Seller

About Jim
Jim is a co-founder of the Farah Goodwin Team at Compass. He hails from the Lone Star State, but he's been a die-hard New Yorker forever, and has had a 20- career in Manhattan and Brooklyn real estate. Jim received his BA from Stanford and then his MBA from Wharton and went on to serve as president of his family apparel business, Farah, Inc., a publicly traded company started by his grandfather. At Farah, Jim gained valuable C-suite experience that set him apart from other brokers when he began his real estate career. He found it came naturally to him to identify great investments and to provide finely tuned marketing strategies. Although he is proud to have sold hundreds of millions in in property value over the years, his favorite sign of success is his loyal clientele. People keep coming to him every time they move. When a recent buyer said “Thank you for being more patient with me than I was with you,” it meant the world to Jim. He puts his heart and soul into providing a snag-free process that feels like a walk in Central Park.

Always generous with his time, Jim has done a lot of volunteer work for organizations including Rotary, YMCA, and United Way, and has served on several university boards and councils.

14 Harrison St, Unit 5/6

Rare opportunity to buy a Pre-war Tribeca - two story penthouse loft, with around ~ 4500 interior sqft, roof rights, 18 foot ceiling with skylight, mezzanine, 3 beds, 2 baths, artists studio, keyed elevator, storage and very low monthlies. The rich and awe-inspiring penthouse at 14 Harrison Street -- the longtime home of world-renowned playwright Edward Albee -- is ready for a new owner to continue its impressive story. Immediately upon entering this dramatic space, one is transported back to the origins of Tribeca loft-living, with massive spaces, exposed brick and, in this case, double-height ceilings. This provides a blank canvas for your vision. Currently configured as a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with 3 exposures, the possibilities are endless. A sweeping 35-foot wide living and dining area makes this loft extremely conducive for both living, creating, and entertaining. The atelier skylight nearly 18 feet above the main floor floods the home with natural light throughout the day. On the main level, there is a generous separate kitchen, bedroom suite with sitting room and full bathroom. Upstairs, one finds another bedroom suite with full bathroom, a separate den, and a studio space with direct elevator access. This loft with extremely low monthly maintenance is one of only a few downtown spaces like this which remain, where one can create or house large-scale works of art and be able to admire them in such a spacious surrounding. Located on a quiet cobblestone Tribeca block, this loft is the real thing.
