I’ve known Leila Yusuf since 2004. In 2008 after saving for years I discovered an apartment that I was interested in purchasing. I knew that Leila had a real estate license and she was the first person who came to mind. I trusted her to guide me through unfamiliar territory or buying an apartment in New York City. It was a decision that I was glad I made. Leila proved to be knowledgeable of the New York real estate market. She was able to recommend a lawyer and a banker. Leila recently helped us sell our co-op unit in Harlem and we could not be happier with our experience with her. First off, Leila got the pricing right. We started with the right price and despite other similar units in our building coming onto the market at a cheaper price, we did not drop our price based on Leila’s recommendation. In the end, our unit sold for very close to the asking price while the cheaper ones are still on the market.
In addition, Leila was fantastic at helping us navigate all the hurdles that came up throughout the process. It is an extremely difficult and slow moving process to get approval from HPD and HDC (both from the seller and buyer side). Leila quarterbacked the whole process and quickly dealt with any setbacks as they arose. From the time the application was submitted by the buyers, we closed in less than four months which is lightning fast for HPD and HDC! Furthermore, Leila was very responsive to our concerns and helped us stay positive through the whole process (despite the stress!). It was a great pleasure working with Leila and I highly recommend her especially to those in a NYC subsidized apartment. If you want someone to get the job done, Leila is the one!

She helps ease this process by being herself. Leila was born and raised in Kenya and came to America at age 19 to attend the University of Massachusetts, where she studied hospitality and management. Before entering the real estate industry, Leila had a very successful career in the restaurant business, where she worked in management for well-known chefs Jeffrey Zakarian and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
Also, she is an owner of a few restaurants chain. When not with clients, she is a proud mother, mentoring newcomers to the business, and loves running, hiking great peaks around the world, sailing, spinning, skydiving, cooking, traveling, and yoga. She is currently working with IT-Project, an organization whose mission is to provide digital education resources to public schools in Kenya.
