"I never thought I’d hire a real estate agent in NYC. I thought I knew the city and would do it myself. Boy was I wrong; turns out if you don’t hire an agent in NYC you are basically wasting time and money (unless it’s one of the very few amenity apartments with no broker frees). Katie patiently helped me understand that if you don’t have a broker yourself, you just end up just paying the landlord’s broker double, instead of that broker splitting the commission with your hired broker 50/50. So it’s a no brainer unless you are only hunting the few no fee apartment. And closing is a nightmare. Katie was magical, she found every apartment in my area worth seeing, was fun to see them with, and helped me navigate the closing. She’s now become a close friend, and I go to her for a lot more than just apartment stuff these days.
