About Justin
Founder | The J. Rubinstein Team

Justin Rubinstein is a 21-year veteran of the real estate marketplace, who quickly gained attention from industry veterans and clients alike as a motivated and knowledgeable professional whose focus is on providing the best customer service possible while negotiating and protecting his clients with dogged tenacity. This tenacity and hard work ethic has proven fruitful as he has successfully negotiated over $1B in real estate transactions to date. Justin has enjoyed representing buyers and sellers of trophy properties such as the Time Warner Center, 56 Leonard, The Apthorp, One Madison, landmarked West Village townhouses, and new development penthouses. In each instance, his clients come away from the experience with a strong appreciation for his dedication and expertise - for more on this, please see his testimonials page.

When representing sellers, Justin integrates exceptional and cutting-edge marketing techniques with refined selling skills, ensuring a targeted approach to finding the right buyer, effecting a seamless transaction at the maximum price. This allows Justin to consistently meet or exceed his clients' expectations. As a buyer's broker, he combines extraordinary knowledge with a keen eye for detail in unique properties, and a skillful sense matching buyers' wishes with excellent value. This has resulted in Justin regularly being honored as one of the top brokers in New York City. Justin has the propensity for asking the right questions and gathering pertinent information when a buyer is considering placing an offer on a property. This persistence, along with his practice as a great listener, has continually positioned buyers to win deals in a competitive marketplace. His clients reliably attest to the fact that this gives them a competitive edge.

Building on his investment sales experience, Justin founded JDL Management during the down market of 2009. This firm oversees the procurement of investment properties for clients and manages their operations, and has grown to own and/or oversee more than one hundred properties in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The experience of starting and managing this initiative has given Justin, and consequently his clients, a distinct competitive advantage when sourcing investment property deals.

Justin is frequently asked to speak at various institutions' real estate panels, such as the Real Estate Board of New York, the Yale Club, the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce, and Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Justin graduated from the University of Virginia, where he walked on to the football team as a defensive end. Justin is a member of the University of Virginia Club of New York, and is involved in City Meals and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In 2012, Justin was extremely fortunate to be a genetic match to his brother who had been diagnosed with Leukemia and provided a life-saving stem cell transplant.

Client Testimonials

★★★★★
“Michael and Justin offer levels of experience, professionalism and confidence that were unmatched in our search for a brokerage team. They understood and marketed a very unique space and got us a price that wasn't even considered by others we interviewed. We survived the process by relying on their good judgement and calm reassurance. They have our highest recommendation and eternal gratitude."

★★★★★
"Michael and Justin and The Michael Graves Team handled everything on the sale of our apartment from start to finish perfectly. From pre-listing, to marketing strategy, to a very smoothly orchestrated negotiation and closing, every detail was executed with professionalism and expertise. Their pricing assessment was ten percent (!) higher than other top brokers, and they got it! We couldn’t be more pleased with our choice and would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone!"

★★★★★
"Justin Rubinstein served as the sales agent for our upper east side penthouse property. It was a complicated sale involving many issues outside of Justin's control and required a great deal of patience. He was our steady and hard-working advocate throughout the process and got us through to a successful closing in a relatively soft market. What stands out most about Justin is his forthrightness; his strategic approach to sales; his understanding of the motivations below the surface of a negotiation; and his empathy. I recommend him to all seeking representation in real estate."

★★★★★
“Justin Rubinstein is not only the most professional salesperson I have ever worked with, but also the most effective. After marketing my 6400 square foot building with another brokerage with no success, I was fortunate to meet Justin. He provided me with a reinvigorated marketing plan and ideas for how to sell my building. In a very short time, he had relisted the building and garnered immediate interest. Selling an entire building for a premium price is not an easy task, but Justin and his team were up to the challenge, and exceeded my expectations. Within 60 days, we had an accepted offer and a . As this was a complicated and nuanced deal, having Justin’s involvement from start to finish was critical, and once the was , he became even more valuable. Where some brokers’ attention may falter after signing, Justin understood the importance of seeing the deal through to the finish line and made sure that we succeeded. 45 days later we had a successful and smooth closing, and Justin was able to guide me through the entire process. Should you ever find yourself in a position to sell an apartment or piece of property, I must say you should Justin first.”

-Jack Velenski, Developer

★★★★★
"Justin was an incredible advisor and partner throughout the entire process.  From ensuring that our marketing was impeccable to timing the listing correctly to handling multiple offers, he was the consummate agent and a pleasure to work with.  The speed and execution of the sale were flawless, and he protected our interests throughout."

★★★★★
“It was a great pleasure working with you on the sale of our apartment. We appreciate your dedication, personal attention and tireless effort during the sale. You were very helpful in constantly re-evaluating our strategy based on market conditions. As a result, our apartment sold for over 25% more per square foot than the most recent comp. We were very impressed with your knowledge of the market and most importantly, you handled all facets of the sale with expertise and valuable counsel from start to finish. You were very attentive throughout and especially towards the end during a complicated negotiation you were patient and provided outstanding guidance.”
