About JB
JB Fung's passion for real estate and dedication have propelled him into the position of the top 10 producers at Compass Sunset Strip while doing what he loves, helping people with one of the biggest financial decisions they will ever make: buying and selling a home.
Having harbored a personal interest in architecture, JB Fung left a coveted, longstanding career in the music industry to work at the architectural firm Hodgetts + Fung exploring development and real estate opportunities. The firm established by JB's sister Ming Fung and husband Craig Hodgetts is responsible for such notable projects as the redesign of the Hollywood Bowl and the Wild Beast Pavilion (featured in the LA Times "Titans of Design" alongside John Lautner, Richard Neutra and Charles & Ray Eames). Hodgetts + Fung envisioned and implemented the "Blueprints for Modern Living: History and Legacy of the Case Study Houses" exhibition and "The Work of Charles and Ray Eames: A Legacy of Invention" exhibition, these two exhibitions documented the works of great architects and designers responsible for shaping California's architectural history and helped redefine and reinvigorate the interest in modernism and modernist homes today.
While working at Hodgetts + Fung, JB discovered a new passion which combined his love for modernist architecture with his business background, he began his real estate career. In a serendipitous turn, the first significant property he sold was the Lappin House, the first home designed by Case Study architect Craig Ellwood. Recognizing this niche market, JB incorporated the sale of architectural properties into his real estate business, working with first time buyers and sellers and also clients interested architecturally significant and historic homes.
JB Fung's 30 years of living in Los Angeles combined with his creative background in the music industry and the architectural field gives him an intimate understanding of Los Angeles living. He is gifted at sensing the unique needs of his buyers and connecting them with homes that naturally "fit". "I sell emotion and lifestyle," he explains enthusiastically. "Its goes far beyond just 3 bedrooms/2 baths, you have to understand what your client needs and find it!"
Sellers also appreciate JB Fung's comprehensive yet creative approach to marketing, utilizing state-of-the-art technology to provide maximum exposure and prompt results. Adept at marketing, negotiating and making deals happen, JB has earned an increasingly loyal following of satisfied clients who turn to him for repeat business and continued real estate advice.
