About Helen
Helen Nicholas hails from the Old Dominion, (Virginia and West Virginia), where most of her extended family still reside. She learned early in life to appreciate the challenges of settling into a new home, having relocated to ten different cities across the country by the time she was in her mid-twenties. She knew she had found her permanent home when she moved to Oakland's Montclair District over forty years ago.

She began her real estate career soon after that, knowing that the skills she had developed in her first professional pursuit as a classroom teacher would serve her clients well as their Realtor®. Helen committed always to putting the best interests of her clients first and found that her good reputation quickly grew and allowed her to become among her company´s top producers consistently since 1977. Helen also became dedicated to civic and professional volunteerism, serving on several Boards and committees. She has been selected as Realtor® of the Year by her local Association of Realtors® for an unprecedented three times, and she is one of only two who have received the Outstanding Leadership Award. Helen was selected as Honorary Director for Life in 2015 by the Bridge Association of Realtors®. CAR and NAR recognized her as an Honorary Member for Life for 2018. Some of her other activities include service for the California Association of Realtors® as a State Political Coordinator to state legislators and as a Federal Political Coordinator providing advocacy to Congress on behalf of the National Association of Realtors® and the California 12th District. She is a Director of the Piedmont Pines Neighborhood Association and President of the Chi Omega Association at the University of California Berkeley.

Helen earned her Real Estate Broker license in 1983 and the National Association of Realtors® Certified Residential Specialist designation in 1996. Her clients appreciate her careful consideration of each party's needs, her ability to communicate and explain the intricacies of every step of the process, her accessibility, cheerfulness, and creativity. She has represented many other Realtors® in the sale and purchase of their own homes and for their family members.

Helen and Compass look forward to offering this same level of professional residential real estate service to you for all of your real estate requirements in Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley, Alameda, and contiguous cities in Alameda County.
