About Douglas
Doug Jacobson understands that for many people in Santa Barbara, buying or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions they will make during their lifetimes. Real estate transactions are complex financial decisions, but emotion also plays a large role.
Doug guides and advises his real estate clients with similar compassion and empathy as he cares for his patients. When not working as a realtor, Dr. Jacobson MD is an eye physician and surgeon at Sansum Clinic. Being a doctor has taught Doug to be a good listener, allowing him to form a deeper understanding of real estate clients' aspirations and worries. With this deep relationship, Doug can better guide people through the financial and emotional complexities of buying or selling a home.
Doug received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Colorado College, then taught in Costa Rica, at Yosemite Institute, and at the Colorado College. He earned his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine and trained in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Jacobson completed specialty training in Ophthalmology at the University of Washington in Seattle. In 2011, Dr. Jacobson established a successful ophthalmology private practice in Santa Barbara. In 2018, Dr. Jacobson was recruited to join Sansum Clinic.
Growing up in the San Francisco bay area, Doug worked alongside his mother, a real estate professional. Doug's passion for the business and personal sides of real estate inspired him to obtain his real estate license. Drawing on his experience as a teacher and physician, he applies the same care for his real estate clients.
Doug loves all things Santa Barbara, especially the opportunities to live a healthy lifestyle. He is an avid cyclist and farmers’ market shopper, volunteers in trail and environmental stewardship, and works to promote a healthy lifestyle in our Santa Barbara community.
