Growing up in a family that included agents, appraisers, and loan officers, Douglas gained valuable insights into the inner workings of the real estate industry at an early age. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Virginia, he was a Certified Appraiser in Virginia for 10 years. It allowed him to see countless properties, both existing and under construction, and built in him a deep knowledge of the area’s markets, construction practices and local amenities. Watching the long-term changes in buyer preferences, property standards and transaction details has been a life-long interest.


When he is not busy helping his clients, Douglas enjoys spending time out dining in DC with friends, or entertaining them in his Logan Circle home. He especially enjoys time at his family's Loudoun Virginia farm, where he and his husband Scott have revived his grandmother’s flower and vegetable gardens, adding several hundred new peony plants to the heirloom peonies already there. Their dog Dash especially loves the quiet in contrast to the bustle on the streets around Logan Circle. Douglas is fortunate to have family in the area, and loves spending time with them, as well as visiting his sister Kelly in California, the family’s West Coast Compass agent.
