About Doug
Why I Love Real Estate
I am passionate about real estate. I love working with people. And I love what I do. I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I believe it is the best place to live in the world. I love the energy, and passion, and creativity, and the possibilities that the Bay Area and Silicon Valley embody.I attended Oregon State University, where I graduated with honors in Finance and Economics. I began my career in mortgage banking, and quickly gravitated towards investment real estate, where I apartment buildings & commercial property for almost 10 years. The knowledge and training I received was invaluable in helping me hone my real estate and negotiation skills, but I wanted something more. I wanted to have a more meaningful impact on people’s lives.
So in 1989 I began selling residential real estate, allowing me to use my skills and expertise while connecting with and helping people on a very personal level. Nothing is more fulfilling for me. As a result, I have helped hundreds of clients buy and sell homes in the Tri-Valley region.
Training and Innovation
I have focused much of my professional training on the art of negotiation. I attended the world renowned Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School, and hold a certificate from the Harvard Negotiation Institute. This prestigious program is popular with business and government leaders nationally and globally, and is regarded as the most powerful training in negotiation available. Just a handful of Real Estate Agents across the country have invested in their skill set and careers to this level and hold this advanced negotiations certification.I have built a reputation in the real estate community as innovator and early adapter in technology. I have written extensively about real estate both on my popular blog and in the local and national media. I have served on numerous industry panels, including the California Association of Realtors and the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing, I am a frequent speaker in my company training programs, and in local industry events.
My Other Passions
Real Estate is what I do, not who I am. I am the father of 2 awesome kids. In my free time I like to play music with a couple of local bands (yes we get paid to do it), work out, hike, and read about world events and politics online. I love pop culture (I often sprinkle pop culture references in my conversations). I love College football, and sports in general. I am very involved in the schools and the community, serving as President of the Athletic Boosters for the local high school. I am especially passionate about helping our men and women in the armed forcesThank you for taking the time to understand what makes me tick. I sincerely hope I have the opportunity to meet you, and put the expertise of my team and I to work for you
