"Diane Yochelson defines professionalism in real estate representation. While a retired diplomat I started life as an attorney, and was deeply impressed that Diane was on the details of every aspect of our negotiation, purchase contract, and settlement. And this was no ordinary purchase - it was purchase of a cooperative apartment in Washington DC, with all the unique - and voluminous - requirements that a cooperative and its Board impose on the seller. Diane clarified the steps, made sure I met submission deadlines, and importantly, followed up with seller’s agent to ensure the labyrinthine process of purchasing a cooperative proceeded smoothly. Let me emphasize too what I consider exceptional responsiveness and interpersonal skills. Diane was polite, responsive, and professional seven days a week, and at all hours, shepherding this purchase through to conclusion. There was no text or call that was not returned promptly, and with answers that were clear and concise. Finally, add to the mix her patience and radiant smile. I simply don’t know what more you could ask for in an agent. Diane is the essence of a true real estate professional. I was deeply thankful for her representation at a milestone moment in my life: purchasing a home." - Purnell

"There are many great professional and knowledgeable realtors in the field but personality counts the most and Diane excels in it. Respectful, thoughtful, attentive and pleasant demeanor is what comes to mind when dealing with Diane. And of course that is in addition of being professional, experienced, hard worker and having lots of patience. It took us more than 1.5 years to find our dream home and Diane was alongside with us all the way. We are so grateful to have found her! I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a home. Best wishes to Diane on her journey." - Andrey

"We listed our townhouse for sale with Diane through Compass. She was knowledgeable, supportive and accommodating while giving us space to make the important decisions. We particularly appreciated her patience and her thoughtful guidance on the real estate market during the Covid frenzy. She has an eye for detail, analyses and communicates issues well and in our case kept the sale process on track. We recommend Diane without hesitation." - Debbie & Alex

"I can’t sing her praises sufficiently. Diane is a savvy professional and a lovely person in general. She truly listens and is receptive. So perspicacious is she that after the first viewing, she understood my seemingly exhaustive needs and predilections and adapted our search accordingly with efficiency and the speed i required. Diane found us our dream home (within my very specific budget parameters) and did so with grace, realty acumen, and indefatigable patience. I’ve already referred my brother to her and will continue recommending her to any friends or relatives in the market to buy or sell property. I feel so fortunate to have found her!" - Cecily

"Diane is everything you could want in a real estate agent. We selected her both to sell our house in AU Park and to buy a condo in the Bethesda area. Diane succeeded splendidly with both! She sold our house in five days for above asking price. Finding a 3 BR condo in Bethesda can be challenging. Diane thoughtfully and skillfully handled this process, helping us gain an understanding of the market in various neighborhoods before selecting an upscale apartment that we bought below asking price. We are so happy in our new home. Diane has all the requisite qualities of a great realtor. She listens. She is a thoughtful negotiator and has excellent people skills. She knows her territory. If she doesn’t know the answer herself, she knows whom to call to guide you through any question about buying or selling a house, like financing and closing, for example, helping us to choose the best firms. She is an honest and principled person in a business that attracts some who aren’t. She worked hard and smart on our behalf, and she will for you." - Josef

"Diane is by far the best realtor I've ever worked with. She helped me buy a terrific house in Silver Spring during an extremely challenging time with the pandemic and low inventory. She always made herself available to show me homes and to worked very hard once I decided on a home to ensure my offer was accepted and with the seller to get the home inspection items taken care of. Above all, Diane is a terrific listener which is most needed during the stressful time of home buying or selling." - Catherine

"After meeting Diane Yochelson briefly at an open house, she called to follow-up. I was immediately impressed with her warm and respectful attention to my particular needs and, as we worked together, came to respect her skills in identifying options, organizing the paperwork, and managing all parties to my condo purchase including the seller, the seller's broker, appraiser, mortgage banker, inspector, title company, movers -- even some of my ancillary friends and family members. 2020 was a year with unusual challenges, yet she managed all details smoothly and kept me from making blunders along the way! Diane is competent, professional and wise --I am truly pleased to recommend her." - Francine

"Everyone told me that buying a home—especially my first—would be a stressful and grueling endeavor. This was not the case working with Diane—her real estate expertise and her calm decisiveness made buying my first home a smooth, low-stress experience. She prepared me to be as competitive of a buyer as possible, and it paid off immensely—I wouldn’t be in my dream home if it weren’t for her. She kept on top of all details and deadlines—there were multiple times when other parties missed deadlines or didn’t follow through on an obligation and it was Diane who stepped in and got everyone back on track. She has the knowledge to facilitate a smooth, transparent home buying experience, and she was always happy to talk through any concerns (no matter how irrational) or address any questions (no matter how absurd). I’ve been in my new home a few months now and am so grateful to have found an agent like Diane. She taught me so much throughout the process and I truly couldn’t imagine buying a home without her. I look forward to working with her again when it comes time to sell and upgrade. In the meantime, I cannot recommend Diane enough." - Jay

"Diane is the best person to negotiate the sale of your apartment or house. She is a hard working woman, even tempered, with a positive outlook. When Diane works for you, you are the center of her attention, even when you get upset with the minutia of real estate, she holds your hand and calms down all sides. I couldn't recommend Diane Yochelson any higher. She is a five star realtor. Diane sold my condo for asking price and held my hand through the whole process." - Teresa

About Diane
Diane’s commitment to exceptional customer service began at the age of 12, working in her father’s discount department store in Upstate New York. There, she learned the importance of listening to and responding to customers’ needs—a lesson that has defined her professional life. Today, as a realtor, she brings that same dedication to understanding her clients, treating them like family, and building trust through genuine care and personalized guidance.

After completing graduate school at New York University, Diane settled in the Washington, DC area, where she spent four years working on two different U.S. Senate Committees. Her role focused on addressing constituent issues and legislative matters with a keen ear and a responsive approach.

When Senate staff reshuffling changed the landscape, Diane pivoted to commercial real estate, excelling as both a landlord and tenant representative. She earned Rookie of the Year honors and became a top producer in DC for 15 years, earning the trust of clients such as The World Bank and Goldman Sachs for her knowledge, effectiveness, and integrity.

A cross-country move to San Diego for her husband’s new role setting up a STEM-focused nonprofit gave Diane firsthand insight into the pivotal role a great realtor plays. Her agent’s guidance through navigating an unfamiliar market, exploring school options, and establishing community connections transformed what could have been an overwhelming transition into a smooth and welcoming experience. Now back in the DC area, Diane draws on that experience to make each client’s journey as seamless as possible.

With a background as a certified professional coach, Diane brings invaluable skills to her real estate practice—listening, clarifying needs, and helping clients navigate each step. A dedicated advocate, she combines expertise with genuine care, always treating clients like family.

Outside of work, Diane’s mornings begin with a walk with her dog, Charlie, typically followed by a visit to Fresh Baguette, a local French coffee shop. She enjoys spending time with family, has a love for the South of France (her husband is fluent, and she’s working on it!), and serves on the board of the Spirit Club Foundation, supporting initiatives that promote community wellness.
