About Bill
Bill grew up in San Marino and entered residential real estate after graduating from UC Santa Barbara in 1972. After working for a boutique Pasadena firm he opened Podley Caughey Associates in 1981 and merged that firm with Doan Harbison Realty in 1986 to become Podley Caughey & Doan. The company grew to include five offices and was sold to Coldwell Banker in 1999.
Bill decided to become an owner again and in 2003 joined forces with the proprietor of Jim Dickson Realty to form a new firm, Dickson Podley REALTORS, which later became Podley Properties. The firm grew via acquisitions to six offices, spanning from La Canada Flintridge to Glendora. Because he has continually enjoyed representing sellers and buyers, Bill returned to full time sales in late 2018 after selling Podley Properties to Mike Deasy and George Penner. The firm is now known as DPP|COMPASS.
His qualifications include involvement in over 1000 transactions in the San Gabriel Valley over his now five decade career. Bill says, "I've been fortunate to have sold homes and condominiums of many architectural styles through the years, in price ranges from five figures in the 1970s to the upper seven figures in recent years. Because of my breadth of experience representing clients purchasing or selling their first home to the most seasoned property owner or their heirs selling a long-held family home, I believe I've learned to work with every possible personality type in most any conceivable life circumstance."
A Pasadena resident, Bill and his wife, Kathy, have three adult children and eight grandchildren. He has served in a number of community and professional roles over the years, including board chair of Lake Avenue Church and the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, and as president of the Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS and The Valley Hunt Club.
