"What happened to be a chance encounter when my wife met Bernie at an open house he was hosting for Deleon, has turned out to be a wonderful friendship with Bernie, a gifted realtor, and an amazing human being.

Over the past year and a half, my wife and I, met Bernie on and off, and he guided us through a few homes, primarily in Portola Valley and Los Altos area. From the very time we met him, what impressed us was his punctuality (he was always ahead of time, waiting for us at the predetermined location, meticulously dressed (always with a mask)), always smiling (yes, he can smile through the mask), and always prompt. Given that visiting listed properties during covid times needed a lot of co-ordination and scheduling, he always delivered. "My family has had an extraordinary experience with Bernie. He worked tirelessly to educate us on specific properties, neighborhoods, and factors involved in resale. As first-time home buyers in Silicon Valley, this has been invaluable. When we found our dream home - a property with 8 other competitive offers - we were concerned about whether we would be able to secure it on our budget. Bernie did extensive research, going through old archives on same-model homes in the community that were not obvious to get a more accurate valuation of the property. He formulated a strategy on how we could compile the most attractive offer. He was there every step of the way, coaching us on all aspects of strategy execution - from how to write a "love letter" to connecting us with a lender who could offer the most expedient close of escrow.

"Highly highly highly recommend Bernie. He is absolutely the best.

How we found Bernie: we interviewed 3 agents (one from boss at work, one from inlaws' agent's friend, one from hubby's coworker who used Bernie). The first one was kind of an over talker but nice, but then didn't respond to our follow-up email. The second one seemed like she would just  sell us whatever to make a buck. Bernie, however, always responded promptly, not an over talker, very very nice, and just fit everything we wanted. A definite plus in my book that he would text us (not call - I don't like picking up the phone haha); and promptly at that too (I don't like being on read).

Bernie's goal was to make sure we liked our house,  didn't over pay, and got fair market value in this crazy bay area market. He also wanted us to be able to make money from our house in the future in the event should we choose to move or sell. He was an excellent teacher; we learned so much about real estate from him. He talked us out of buying a house with a poor layout when we were at the depth of our despair when there seemed like there weren't any more houses in our budget (good thing too since that house later on sat on the market for a long time after). He showed us houses but never pushed us to buy when he saw the slightest bit of hesitation on our end (because he cares about our happiness!). He was always professional, respectful. When we did find our house, he worked the whole night (sellers were overseas) to secure our deal, and definitely negotiated to get our house under the listing price. Even after securing our house, he didn't disappear; he continued to work hard to make sure all loose ends were tied up. Got us connected to contractors, and helped us get good deals on those things as well.

To sum it up, Bernie is very honest, very professional, hard working and just an all around wonderful person.
