Ariel Dagan

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Turtle Bay in a building called 100 UN Plaza. My family sold their apartment when I was 12 and we moved to 80th and York on the Upper East Side.

Where do you currently live?
I currently live in a in Sutton Place. I recently moved from a condo in Beekman Place.

How did you find your apartment?
I asked my current doorman five questions and listened to his response:
1. "Who do you know who just got Married the building?"
- Doorman: "No One"
2. "Who do you know who just got Divorced in the building?"
- Doorman: "No One"
3. "Is anyone in the building relocating work?"
- Doorman: "Not that I know"
4. "Is anyone having a baby or pregnant?"
- Doorman: "No"
5. "Did anyone just pass?"
- Doorman: "Yes. PH-A just passed".

I wrote 3 letters to PHA knowing they needed to sell the apartment. I got a call from the heir to the apartment who asked me to look at the home to give them a price opinion. I offered to buy it on the spot.

Tell us a little about your family…
I come from a real estate family. My father is a jeweler a landlord, and my mother is a homemaker that built our family’s house. My dad grew up Israel my mom grew up Iran. They moved here the early 70s when the Shah fell from power. I have one brother who works for a large commercial real estate developer. I'm also married with two daughters that I adore.

How did you get into real estate?
When I was in high school I made a call to Joseph Moinian, the CEO of the Moinian Group - one of the city's biggest developers. I asked him agreed to give me a position in the leasing office of one of his downtown buildings called 1 West Street, The Ocean. I worked with them three out of my four summers in college and it was an incredible experience. In my final summer of college, I became a real estate agent. I've been doing this ever since.

I met my business partner, Daniel Karp, in 2015. At the time Dan had just gotten into the business and my business was taking off. Dan was assisting me on the excess business I had and closing every single deal as a rookie. I saw his potential and in 2017 we became business partners with each other. We currently have 9 members on our team and were ranked by the Wall Street Journal - Real Trends - as a Top Producing Team nationwide. This puts us in the top 1.5% of all real estate agents in the country. 

Do you do any work outside of real estate?
When I have downtime I design products and pitch companies to license the designs from me. I recently licensed a squirt water bottle to a company in California that can mist your face when you turn it upside down.

What do you do for fun?
I spend 80% of my downtime with my family and daughter. I am also constantly reading.
